Blog about Barbet Yatzie & Moët

My life with the French waterdogs Yatzie born 2007 and her daughter Moët born 2011. Barbets are purebred, active, relaxed and allergy friendly dogs with a soft and loving spirit. I am Swedish but live with my dogs in Holland. I hope you will enjoy the blog! Enlarge the photos by clicking on them.

Found these portraits of Yatzie today on my computer and just liked them a lot. So enjoy!

Got each dog a horse bone yesterday, from a horse butcher! One can do fitness training with them -  that's how heavy they are! I had never bought this before and the dogs were so excited! Since it is freezing here now, it was perfect timing for such bones. The dogs can chew on them in the garden for many days and they bones just stay outside. Even though it may appear offending to some, it is very good for dogs' teeth to chew on bones now and then. And horse meat is very clean. What a dog party!

Finally snow here in Holland! The dogs love it! Yatzie, who lived in Sweden her first three years, is a real winter dog. On the roads there was chaos today so we played in the snow around the house.

Darling Saartje!

Yesterday, in the evening sun, at the dunes at Soesterduinen I got some nice shots of Yatzie and Moët. I just cut the bangs on both of them and in Moët's case it made her eyes show so nicely. Yatzie's bangs falls different, so her eyes more seldom show. Or I must cut it really short. Enjoy some Barbet beauty!

Noah's Ark is touring around Holland. Of course dogs were alllowed! It was an exciting hour in the ark for both kids and dogs. There were both fake and real animals: birds, goats, horses.

About the Ark: The Ark is approximately 20,000 m2 in size. Noah's Ark is a fun day out for young and old! Come aboard this replica of the oldest and largest wooden ship in the world and take part in activities the whole family can enjoy. You will see what Noah's Ark would have looked like, and how Noah and his family must have lived. Read more on http://www.arcofnoah.org

The fireworks at New Year frightens both Yatzie and Moët (despite a lot of puppy noise training). But I have found a way to get around the worst half hour after midnight - Swedish meatballs from IKEA! They hypnotise the dogs who totally forget about the terrible noise outside. I just keep feeding them for half an hour with small pieces with the volume on the television on the maximum! Then the worst is over. We are blessed with understanding friends that either have dogs themselves or respect the fact that the dogs need be around us at New Year and not left alone. So they take part in the party! The kids also give them a lot of attention and cuddeling as you can see in the pictures!

Midnight New Year. Getting the dogs attention away from the fireworks - with meatballs!
Birthday boy Bas, 12 year at midnight, with his brown curly haired girlfriend!

Cuddeling - the best way to spend your holidays! And noone can resist cuddeling with a soft, curly, sweet Barbet!

Yatzie loves nicely wrapped presents -  she is a spoiled child! As soon as she spots one her  tail starts swaying. She believes that all gifts are for her and she can get inside even the most tricky wrapped ones! Of course there were many Christmas gifts for the dogs, most of which could be eaten at once!
