Blog about Barbet Yatzie & Moët

My life with the French waterdogs Yatzie born 2007 and her daughter Moët born 2011. Barbets are purebred, active, relaxed and allergy friendly dogs with a soft and loving spirit. I am Swedish but live with my dogs in Holland. I hope you will enjoy the blog! Enlarge the photos by clicking on them.

Just outside our room in the B&B was a newborn nest of birds. The mother was busy feeding them freshly caught yummie insects and I was able to get a nice series of shots of her working!

Now and then I bring the dogs to our favorite Bed&Breakfast Mollenvlied. I find peace and quiet and can work there and the dogs are happily running around the premises, fascinated by the hens in the ren and the rabbits in the bushes! Spring only just arrived here in Holland and the many high trees in the area were covered with leaves in that lovely light awakening green colour. Yatzie and Moët are happy as ever here in Mollenvlied. And gray-haired Saartje enjoys experiencing new things in her old days aswell!

On our way back to Holland we stayed in Malmö for just a day. I took the dogs in the early morning to the sea side. It was so quiet and beautiful. Chilly but sunny. Here is a video capturing the beauty.

In Stockholm Yatzie got to met her best friend the portugese waterdog Isa. They had not met for three years. Just before leaving the house I said to Yatzie: Shall we go to see Isa? She became so excited, she ran around the house looking for Isa, she started crying standing by the door so she could go search for Isa. Isn't it amazing the memory the dogs have? Three years and she knew exactly who we were going to see. Their meeting was a bit hesitant. They smelled each other like usually, but the playing they had together did not happen this time. Yatzie is very much a one friend dog. In Sweden it was Isa. Now she has Moët and that is enough for her it seems. But the memory of Isa and all the fun things we have done together is definetely still there!

Do not know who loves it the most -  the kids or the dogs!!!!

At Götaplatsen, at Kungsportsavenyn, in Gothenburg centrum, stands a great statue of the Greek God Poseidon with a treasue in his hand. But my godman Bart had a much nicer treasure in his arms! The dogs were having a ball playing with each other on the square, and we were enjoying the sun. On Kungsportsavenyn two fabulous white horses came by with Royal guards all dressed up.

Having lunch in the city of Gothenburg.
We took the boat from the hotel in the harbour to the city centre and back
Happy vacation family!

The weekend in Gothenburg was a gold mine for Yatzie! First day she found a whole big sausage lying around in the city centre. Next morning she found a whole big baguette on the beach. Yatzie is very focussed on eating lately. I am waiting for her heat to start and then her eating habits always change. I let her eat what she found  - she was so happy and proud!

Our boat

I love to travel with the dogs! It is an adventure for them as well as for me and the whole family. Last week we spent in Sweden. Most of the times we drive all the way but this time we took a ferry. I was lucky to find one from Germany to Gothenburg where dogs were allowed. Many ferries do not allow dogs at all. On this boat they could stay with us in the room, but not in the common areas. There was a small sand box for dogs to pee, but my dogs hate that kind of places so they found other solutions ;-) !

The nights on the ferries are very cosy and we always fight about who is going to stay in the bed with the dogs! With barbets it is so handy since they do not loose any hair! But of course there is other stuff in the fur! So I always bring a bed cover to avoid making the sheets too dirty.

There were many dogs on the boat so there was even a few playful moments with new dog friends.

Waiting for the elevator down to the car.
